Claude for DevOps
20 live sessions on using Claude as a daily engineering partner. A four-week program for working DevOps, SRE and cloud engineers. After a short Claude foundations track, every session applies Claude to real infrastructure work: shell, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, monitoring and CI/CD.
What you will be able to do
Who it is for
DevOps, SRE, platform and cloud engineers, and Linux admins moving into DevOps.
Before you start
- Working familiarity with Linux, Git and at least one of Docker or Kubernetes
- A laptop with internet access
- A Claude.ai account (Free or Pro)
- Terraform, Ansible or monitoring exposure helps but is not required
Not a list of topics. Things you ship.
Each step produces something real, and each one feeds the next, all the way to the capstone.
- STEP 01 · Days 6 to 10
A safer shell workflow
Linux admin, a hardened systemd unit and a cron backup script, each reviewed with Claude.
- STEP 02 · Days 11 to 12
Containers, fixed and slimmed
A bloated Dockerfile refactored into a lean multi-stage build, and a failing pod diagnosed.
- STEP 03 · Days 13 to 15
Infrastructure as code, reviewed
An idempotent Ansible role and a Terraform module, with the plan checked for risky changes.
- STEP 04 · Days 16 to 17
Monitoring as queries
A PromQL alert, a matching Grafana panel and a Datadog monitor.
- STEP 05 · Day 18
An MCP-connected workflow
Claude connected to a real repo or cluster context, with sensible permissions.
- STEP 06 · Day 20
Your capstone workflow
Git to monitoring in one AI-assisted workflow, presented on Day 20.
20 lessons. 4 modules. Every day laid out.

- DAY 01
Welcome to Claude: LLM fundamentals for engineers
Hands-on: Create an account and run first prompts on a real shell command and a Dockerfile
- DAY 02
Tokens, context windows and pricing
Hands-on: Estimate the token cost of reviewing a 500-line Terraform module and compare model tiers
- DAY 03
Prompt engineering for infrastructure
Hands-on: Write and refine three prompts: a bash script, a YAML manifest and an error-log explanation
- DAY 04
Claude Desktop and Cowork deep dive
Hands-on: Set up a DevOps Assistant project with an architecture doc and a real config file
- DAY 05
Claude Code for infrastructure repos
Hands-on: Open a sample DevOps repo, summarize its structure and flag one improvement
02Week 2: Linux and Git0/5Days 6 to 10
- DAY 06
Linux administration, part 1
Hands-on: Feed a sample log to Claude and find the likely root cause
- DAY 07
Linux administration, part 2: hardening and automation
Hands-on: Generate a hardened systemd unit and a cron backup script, then review both
- DAY 08
Git: everyday workflow
Hands-on: Turn a messy diff into a commit message, PR description and review checklist
- DAY 09
Claude Code and Git: automated workflows
Hands-on: Fix a small bug end to end: branch, edit, commit message, PR description
- DAY 10
Checkpoint project: Linux and Git
Hands-on: Diagnose a simulated server issue, script the fix and commit it
Checkpoint
03Week 3: Containers and IaC0/5Days 11 to 15
- DAY 11
Claude for Docker
Hands-on: Refactor a bloated, insecure Dockerfile into a lean multi-stage non-root build
- DAY 12
Claude for Kubernetes

- DAY 13
Claude for Ansible
Hands-on: Generate an idempotent Nginx role
- DAY 14
Claude for Terraform
Hands-on: Generate a reusable module and review a plan for risky changes
- DAY 15
Checkpoint project: containers and IaC
Hands-on: Containerize an app, write its Kubernetes manifests and provision infra with Terraform
Checkpoint
04Week 4: Monitoring, MCP and CI/CD0/5Days 16 to 20
- DAY 16
Monitoring: Prometheus and Grafana
Hands-on: Generate a PromQL error-rate alert and a matching Grafana panel
- DAY 17
Datadog and observability

Questions about this course
Is this for beginners?
No. It assumes you already work with Linux, Git and containers. If you are starting out, take AWS + DevOps with AI first.
Which Claude plan do I need?
A Free or Pro Claude.ai account is enough to follow along. Vijay verifies current models and pricing at the start of each batch.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. Completing all 20 sessions and the capstone earns a VijayDevOps Academy Certificate of Completion.
Is it hands-on?
Every session is a concept walkthrough, a live demo and a hands-on activity you repeat on your own machine.
Ready to start?
Request a callback and Vijay will confirm the next batch, the format and the payment options.
